Veterinarians and fish breeding MV&Z

The objective of this article is to present to the veterinarians all the procedures related to fish breeding. It is a new area of work for these professionals which should be considered as a new reality. The importance of the presence of a veterinarian at the production site in order to warrant the quality of the product is emphasised. The main diseases, prophilaxis and treatment are reported.

Virus-like particles in pearl oyster Pinctada margaritifera ArchiMer

Virus-like particles were detected in granulomas associated with focal necrosis within the adductor muscle of the pearl oyster Pinctada margaritifera from French Polynesia. About 40 nm in size, the se particles were generally found within cytoplasmic vesic1es inside heavily degenerated granulocytes. More studies are required to further characterize them.
